Anthropic launches Claude Duet for business workflows
A new AI tool from Anthropic targets professionals by automating complex tasks and building custom dashboards, distinct from personal chatbots.

For professionals in Texas and across the South Central region, managing daily operations often means juggling too many apps. Anthropic is trying to change that dynamic with the release of Claude Duet. This new tool is designed specifically for business users rather than the average consumer. It aims to handle the heavy lifting of work tasks so employees can focus on higher-level decisions. The app positions itself as a serious work partner in a crowded market of AI assistants.
The new platform is built on the Claude Opus 5.5 model. It can connect to more than 6,000 different tools and plugins available in the Claude Marketplace. This broad range of connections allows the software to interact with a wide variety of business systems. Users can also make online purchases through integrated services like Stripe’s Link digital wallet or Shopify’s Shop Pay. These features give the agent significant power to execute real-world actions on behalf of the user.
Anthropic is drawing a clear line between this product and other AI options. The company notes that Duet is not designed for personal errands. It will not book flights or handle simple household tasks. Unlike some competitors, it also does not show users its screen as it works. Instead, it focuses on business logic. It can build daily briefings and create custom dashboards based on the user’s specific data. This approach targets small businesses and professionals who need structured information.
The agent operates in the background using its own virtual machine. This means it can complete tasks while the user handles other responsibilities. It will only interrupt the user if it needs approval for a specific step. The system monitors ongoing tasks proactively. It delivers recommendations as it works rather than waiting for a direct prompt. This shift marks a move from simple chatbots to agents that actually perform work.
Security is a major concern for business data. Anthropic released a new classifier to check every message. This tool helps prevent sensitive information from leaking out. By default, the agent will turn down requests asking for credit card numbers or government ID. While it can handle payments, it requires user approval for these sensitive steps. The system has limits, however. It will not trade securities or move money between different bank accounts.
The launch happens as the AI market evolves. Many rivals are moving away from personal assistants toward business-focused agents. Meta released a version of Muse for small businesses with app connections. OpenAI’s Dots also has a strong business focus with professional tool integrations. Anthropic enters this space with a tool that emphasizes automation and management. It is a direct competitor to several other new entrants in the field.
Availability is currently limited. Claude Duet is available as an app on iOS and Android. It is also accessible via the web through Claude.ai. Access is currently restricted to Pro and Max customers. The product is in a research preview phase. Users must join a waitlist to gain access to the tool. This staged rollout allows the company to manage the load and gather feedback before a wider release.
